Lakia Scott, Co-AuthorDr. Lakia Scott is an Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction at Baylor University where she teaches elementary literacy methods and diversity courses to pre-service teachers. As an avid reader of children’s books, she loves to take adventures and prides herself in “getting lost” in the stories of others. As a wife and mother of one tenacious two-year-old explorer, her family also enjoys traveling to local and international destinations, some of which are based on children’s literature and much of which is based on understanding their cultural beginnings.

Branda Greening, Co-AuthorBranda Greening is a senior Middle Grades Education major at Baylor University. Greatly influenced by a high school communications teacher, she aspired to become an educator in efforts to shape and enrich the lives of others both through pedagogy and practice. After graduation, she plans to pursue an advanced degree centering on Urban Education and Literacy. She hopes to also become an English teacher and multicultural curriculum developer.

Autumn Young, IllustratorAutumn Rain Young grew up artistically inclined. It wasn't until her sophomore year in high school where she was taught how to refine and fully develop her skills in sketching, charcoal, and mixed acrylics. Most notably, in high school, she placed and won three different awards within the same county art competition. Currently, Autumn is a freshman majoring in Psychology at Central Texas Community College, in Killeen, Texas.
